President Obama said today that the comeback of the U.S. car industry symbolizes and inspires the comeback of the nation as a whole.
"We're coming back!" Obama said after touring a revived Chrysler transmission plant in Kokomo, Ind. "We're on the move!"
Obama told a crowd of Chrysler employees, "What's happening here at this plant, the changes we're seeing throughout Kokomo, are signs of hope and confidence in the future, in our future together. You're showing us the way forward."
Obama spoke three weeks after his Democratic Party lost six Senate seats and more than 60 House seats in national elections that turned largely on the sour economy.
