Dear Friend,
BREAKING NEWS: The number of long-term job seekers who lost their emergency lifeline reached 1 million this morning. And with some 38,000 people losing their lifeline every single day, the total’s expected to exceed 2 million by the end of the month.
Thousands are taking part in an online day of solidarity with these long-term unemployed workers tomorrow. But you don’t have to wait until tomorrow—it’s easy to act now.
Whether you use Facebook and Twitter or not, please forward this message to at least five friends and family members. Urge them to join our day of solidarity at: www.aflcio.org/ui

It’s inexcusable that some senators have played with a million people’s emergency safety nets so far while they fight for $700 billion in tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. And it’s shockingly hypocritical that these senators say extending unemployment is “too expensive” and “must be paid for.”
It’s critical we continue to raise awareness of this issue. Thanks for standing in solidarity with long-term job seekers—and helping to bring them out of the shadows.
Sincerely,
Manny Herrmann
Online Mobilization Coordinator, AFL-CIO
