Huckabee Will Speak Before Group That Insists ‘Planned Parenthood Aborts Black People’

After promoting a radical foreign policy agenda abroad, likely 2012 GOP presidential candidate Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AK) is heading back home to promote his radical domestic agenda. Huckabee has agreed to keynote a dinner on February 15 for Heroic Media, a Texas-based, conservative Christian group that creates “a Culture of Life through television, billboard and internet advertising which connects women in crisis with life-affirming pregnancy centers.” According to the press release obtained by The Florida Independent, Heroic claims its media strategy directly contributed to a 20 percent drop in the abortion rate in certain media markets:
Join Gov. Mike Huckabee and Heroic Media for “An Evening of Hope” in Orlando, Tuesday, February 15, 1011 at the Rosen Shingle Creek, 9939 Universal Blvd. (map). This dinner benefits Heroic Media — placing positive, life-affirming television commercials, billboards and Internet in Florida. Ken Mikesell, host of TV 45’s “Good Life” will serve as Master of Ceremonies, First Baptist Church of Orlando Pastor David Uth will open the evening in prayer and we’ll have a special presentation by George W. Bush impersonator John Morgan.[...]
This dinner benefits Heroic Media, a faith-based non-profit that places advertisements to help women facing unexpected pregnancies find hopeful alternatives. In markets where our commercials have consistently aired, the abortion ratio has dropped more than 20 percent! Your evening will include dinner, remarks from Gov. Mike Huckabee, and many other highlights to inspire your guests.
What is Heroic’s media strategy? Founder Brian Follet has said Planned Parenthood iscommitting genocide. “Genocide is a strong word, but it’s something like that,” he said. Heroic purchased top listings on search engines like Google to direct teens searching the words “abortion,” “I think I’m pregnant,” or “terminate pregnancy” to its partner website Teenbreaks.com where desperate girls find information about abortion, adoption, and “cutting.” Cutting — “because self-mutiliation has everything to do with handling an unplanned pregnancy.”
Also, Heroic has waged a national campaign against Planned Parenthood entitled “Planned Parenthood aborts African Americans.” Part of this campaign is a billboard featuring an African American girl that states “the most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb.” While similar ads have already been banned in New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston, these ads were approved in to go up in Huckabee’s adopted state.
If Huckabee applies these “strategies” to his keynote address, both supporters and press will undoubtedly flock to the dinner. However, reporters should take note, when former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) spoke at a similar fundraiser in Texas last spring, reporters had to “buy a ticket.” The proceeds went directly to Heroic Media to pay for this “Culture of Life.”
