Math Is Now Just As Fundamental As Reading

Poor math skills are as debilitating in the modern world as is poor reading ability.

In today’s high tech and knowledge driven world, Good math skills are as important to a child’s future wellbeing as good reading ability. Today, having poor math skills will bar more Negroes from vocations requiring a sharp mind and analytical skills, than any other single subject. For all intents and purposes, most black kids, as the stats bear out—and, as an educator, what I see with my own eyes, will have a bleak future, once all the social safety-nets are gone, as the government goes bankrupt. In my estimation, a rapidly increasing number of millennial children (black and white) are coming of age as functional illiterates and mathematically disabled—it has gotten worse over the years. The problem is beyond critical for black kids, who are mired, as a demographic, at the bottom of every social measure gauging overall wellbeing. When international competition is factored into the equation of who works and who starves, Hell is right around the corner for wholesale numbers of young adults, who preoccupy themselves with trifles, when they should be tooling themselves up with the skills required to live well in the modern age.

Having poor math skills in this age and economy, quite frankly, will be the kiss off of death, for anyone wanting to be viably employed in the knowledge and skill intensive world of today. Those factory jobs, and the "Give a colored woman a 2 for 1 double minority jobs that have been lost in the downsize wave of "get-the-hell-out mother fu**ker"--ain't comin' back. Indeed, the technology existing to eat up vast numbers of low paying service jobs, is already in place. For example: Bank tellers, cash register clerks, McDonald's Icon mashers, and the like can be virtually eliminated now--once the powers that be figure out how to manage the hundreds of thousands of "useless eaters" who would suddenly be unemployed, pissed off and ready to burn the mother down.


Mathematics must be taught by a skilled and competent teacher up to and beyond trigonometry, just for starters. Its mastery develops logic, concentration and problem solving ability—in all areas and disciplines. Math boosts the brain’s horsepower. Physics and chemistry cannot be mastered without it. According to the NAEP, only 6 percent of black 12th graders are proficient beyond the grammar school level in math--and their reading skills are almost as poor. Add the drop-outs to the mix and only 3% of black kids achieve high school level mastery. These stats, for me, are verified every time I test a 16 year old who is still stuck on 3rd grade math and has never read a big boy, or big girl, book from cover to cover.

The need to have an agile, logical and critical thinking mind is greater than ever before. High math aptitude opens all doors. He who has it will have a distinct advantage over he who does not—in every area, and in every profession! I have deduced that black children fall into roughly 3 categories: the brilliant 1%, the intelligent 9% and the backward 90%. Most parents of the backward 90 have no clue as to how far behind their kids really are. In this economy, there are no more affirmative action jobs to dole out to Negroes. Black kids in general, by every measure of success or failure, whether it’s by IQ or by standardized testing, fall in dead last behind every other racial and ethnic group on earth. Even the kids of illegal aliens, in the long run, do better than they. Most black kids, aided and abetted by their parents, never become competent at anything.

Black children, in my opinion, have been done in and done out. The children that I am meeting in the environment, and am encountering professionally, do not seem to possess the self discipline, or the work ethic, to do anything well. If the decay is not arrested early in the formative years, my experience has told me that it rarely ever will. In New York, outside of being incarcerated, a huge number of able bodied black men can make no other "living" than to scam disability and "crazy" checks out the system. Now even that source of "free money yo" is drying up, with the increase in government crackdowns. They have been rendered unfit for even low skill jobs, like floor mopping, toilet scrubbing or cotton picking. Those jobs will go to the hard working “illegal” aliens, who bring a solid work ethic with them. For Jose, yesterday it was the mop and bucket; today it’s the rake and the leaf blower—and his own lawn business.
