The woman who talked down a potential school shooter and the 911 dispatcher who was on the phone with her throughout the terrifying encounter reunited Thursday on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."
On Tuesday, 20-year-old Michael Brandon Hill entered an Atlanta-area elementary school with weapons including an assault rifle. Antoinette Tuff, the school's bookkeeper, relayed messages from Hill to Kendra McCray, the 911 dispatcher on the other end of the line. Ultimately, Tuff convinced Hill to turn himself over to police.
McCray and Tuff tearfully hugged and thanked each other as they met to discuss the incident. McCray said, "I've never had a call where the caller was so calm, and so confident in what you were saying, and so personable."
"I was terrified inside," Tuff admitted. McCray confessed that she, too, "was terrified, coming on that line and hearing those gun shots... my hands were shaking so bad."
McCray said that Tuff is "a true hero."
President Barack Obama called Tuff on Thursday evening to thank her for her courageous act.
