Heads up iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users: A new version of Apple's iOS software, iOS 4.3.3, is out now.
The lastest version of iOS comes after Apple's promise to address users' concerns over location data collection by addressing several "bugs" that Apple said were to blame for its devices storing a year's worth of location data in unencrypted logs.
Apple said in a press release issued in April that the next version of iOS software would "[reduce] the size of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database cached on the iPhone," "[cease] backing up this cache," and "
[delete] this cache entirely when Location Services is turned off."

It’s interesting to note that not only does the iPhone stop recording location information when Location Services is turned off, it also deletes the cache entirely. This is an additional enhancement to the iPhone’s location data policy that was not revealed in Apple’s location Q&A.
The new iOS version also adresses a few battery-life related issues and iPod bug fixes.
