WASHINGTON -- A White House official says President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner will play a round of golf together later this month.
Obama and Boehner – both avid golfers – will hit the links June 18. No word on where the round will take place, or whether they'll be joined by any colleagues.
The president's invitation comes as Boehner has urged Obama to take a more active role in the ongoing negotiations over how to reduce the nation's deficit. Vice President Joe Biden has been leading bipartisan negotiations, but those talks appear stalled.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity in order to disclose the president's private invitation.
