O’Reilly Slams Tea Party’s ‘Hateful Rhetoric,’ Warns GOP ‘Craziness’ Is Just Helping Obama

Yesterday, conservative radio and television host Bill O’Reilly had a message for the far-right absolutists in the GOP who are driving the country to the brink of default: You’re helping President Obama get re-elected. On his Fox News show, O’Reilly argued that the unrealistic demands and tactics of Tea Party activists and lawmakers are actually self-defeating:
O’REILLY: The only thing that can save Barack Obama at this point is craziness on the right…It’s not only going to hurt the Republican party, which has already been hurt, but it’s going to save President Obama who they hate…The irony is, the people who dislike President Obama the most…are helping him the most. You’ve got to stop this hateful rhetoric. Some of the rhetoric is so hateful…it’d spin your head around. You have to say, listen, we’re at a point in the history when we have to save the country…But I just hope they’ll all just say let’s do what’s good for the country.
Watch it:
Last night, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) delayed a vote on his plan to raise the debt ceiling because he didn’t have the votes necessary to pass it. It was a defeat delivered by his fellow conservatives who say it doesn’t go far enough, as Tea Party groups lobbied hard for their allies to vote “no.” Those far-right members are demanding cuts to popular entitlement programs and an immediate vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment before they’ll agree to increase the debt limit. O’Reilly said he can only hope these representatives ultimately decide to “do what’s good for the country.” (HT: Business Insider)
