Ms. Melodie Of ‘Boogie Down Productions’ Dead

Ms. Melodie (born Ramona Parker) of the 1980′s rap group “Boogie Down Productions,” is dead, The Urban Daily reports.



The Urban Daily confirmed her death with sources close to the family. There is no word on the cause of her death and her exact age.

The rapper was one of the first recognizable female rappers during an era in which the genre was once heavily dominated by men. She dropped her first single, “Hype According to Ms. Melodie,” in 1988 and an album, “Diva,” in 1989 on Jive Records.

Here most memorable performance was in the classic music video, “Self-Destruction.”

She was formerly married to KRS-ONE.
