This week, while appearing on Fox News’ “On the Record With Greta Van Susteran,” Buchanan tried in vain to distance Romney from his vitrolic comments about nearly half the nation and instead return to the racist and low-brow imagery he is known for:
“Barack Obama is a drug dealer of welfare. He wants permanent dependency, in my judgment, of all these folks…somehow getting benefits, benefits, benefits and paying no taxes.”
And of course, Romney the elitist is the antithesis: According to Buchanan,”Gov. Romney is the complete opposite. We believe in temporary help for anybody that’s in trouble. You should have a floor of decency under every family. Unemployment should be temporary. Unemployment benefits should be temporary. Food stamps should be temporary. What are we doing with 47 million people permanently have to be fed by the government?”
Watch the foolishness here:
All of this coming from someone who was fired from MSNBC just this year because of his questionable book “Suicide of a Superpower” that infamously included the chapters “The End of White America” and “The Death of Christian America.”
Being that Buchanan is still licking his wounds from his unceremonious firing, perhaps Romney and his team could have chosen a representative that at least isn’t known for such blatant bigotry. But then again, Romney’s camp isn’t showing any indication that they have any common sense — or strategy — about anything. So maybe I’m setting the bar too high.
Before being dumped by MSNBC, Buchanan made headlines when he was on Rev. Al Sharpton‘s “PoliticsNation” last August. While discussing President Obama’s political strength, Buchanan referred to the President as “your boy”:
“My what?” Sharpton responded. “My president, Barack Obama? What did you say?”
Buchanan, [using a boxing analogy] answered that Obama was “your boy in the ring.”
“He’s nobody’s boy,” Sharpton said. “He’s your president, he’s my president, and that’s what you have to get through your head.”
Watch the unbelievable exchange here:
Obviously, Buchanan is in the business of employing stereotypical images of Black men to motivate his base. To him, President Obama is both a “drug dealer” and a “boy” who is facilitating the end of White America. We also can’t forget that the President is a closeted Muslim who is also leading the “death of Christian America.”
You have to give racists their due: they NEVER get tired of spreading their biased, dimwitted sentiments to the world.
While it is clear that Romney is under a boatload of pressure right now — with Bloomberg News, among other news outlets, declaring a day after the video bomb landed that “Today, Mitt Romney Lost the Election” — Romney shows each day that both he and his team are failing miserably at suppressing their overall disdain for the poor, middle class, Black, Brown, elderly, and student populations of this country.
And Buchanan’s most-recent vocal spasm underscores this election-losing point.
