New Film Seeks To Counter Negative Stereotypes About Africa

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word, “Africa?”

A place full of malnourished bellies? Nothing but poverty as far as the eye can see? That “country” where everybody walks around naked and fights lions with spears?

A new film from Africa.com seeks to eradicate these long-held perceptions about the second-largest continent in the world.

“Africa Straight Up” offers viewers an exclusive look into Africa’s development that seldom gets mainstream attention. Advancements in education, business, technology, the arts and culture come to the forefront. The film backed by a soundtrack featuring African music stars such as Lira. M.I. Africa.com plans to release the full-feature film in a few weeks, but you can see the official trailer here.
