NEW YORK CITY HEALTH BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES SODA BAN

The New York City Board of Health on Thursday approved a ban on the sale of sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces. The ban, an initiative by the city’s mayor Michael Bloomberg (I), was expected to pass, but soda companies have led a concerted effort to portray the policy as an impingement on personal freedoms. The ban passed by a vote of 8-0.
