Mike McQueary is suing Penn State for $4 million over the way he says he was treated in the Jerry Sandusky sex-abuse case, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. The former assistant football coach says in his whistleblower suit that the university fired him for cooperating with authorities and cast doubt on his credibility by publicly supporting two school officials he singled out for a failure to act. McQueary reported seeing Sandusky in the shower with a boy about 10 years ago, but nothing came of it. McQueary, of course, has plenty of critics who say he himself should have done more at the time.
The former coach made about $140,000 a year working for the late Joe Paterno, but he wasn't interviewed for a position on the team this year. He wants $4 million to cover the amount he would have made had he remained at the university his entire career. He says the university has caused him "much distress, anxiety and embarrassment" since Sandusky's November arrest. Meanwhile, Sandusky's sentencing is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, reports the Centre Daily Times.
