Are pro video-game players our 21st Century athletes?

Video-game enthusiasts are not typically associated with tests of gruelling physical endurance or demonstrations of strength. But in an age where digital technology rules all, are gamers the new form of athletes?

Professional video-game players from all around the world descended upon the US state of North Carolina at the Major League Gaming competition to compete for a $200,000 (£127,000) prize.

Many of these video-game enthusiasts told the BBC video games should be recognised as a new breed of sport - one that is already broadcast on several television networks.
