Tshepo "Tuki" was orphaned as a young boy. Growing up poor in Makuleke village in rural South Africa, he always dreamed of one day visiting the US.
That dream came true this summer when the 16-year-old was invited to New York City to see a piece of his artwork on display at the Museum of Modern Art.
His "wire car," a common toy in Makuleke village made from recycled material, is part of an exhibit called "Century of the Child," which runs through November 5th.
The BBC tagged along for Tuki's journey of firsts from his arrival at the bustling JFK airport to his tour of the world-renowned Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.
