Death Toll in Ghana Building Collapse Hits 4

The top floors of a five-story shopping center in Ghana's capital city of Accra collapsed today, leaving four dead and dozens trapped in the rubble, reports the BBC. Rescue workers have freed 23 survivors so far, says a correspondent on the scene, but dozens may still be stuck beneath the debris. One witness described hearing a bang before the collapse, and others say the noise at the site is so loud that it's impossible to hear people who may be calling for help. Officials tell the AP they expect the death toll to rise.
